Soil Master ("we", "our", or "the app") helps users identify plants and generate soil mix suggestions. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and which third-party services may process it.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the app.
Information We Collect
Soil Master may collect or process the following information:
- Plant names or search terms entered by users.
- Photos selected from the photo library or captured with the camera for plant identification.
- An anonymous device identifier generated by the app.
- Usage information related to daily image identification limits.
- Technical information processed by third-party services, such as request metadata, device information, or diagnostics.
We do not ask users to create an account, and we do not intentionally collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other direct personal identifiers through the current version of the app.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Identify plants from photos.
- Generate soil mix suggestions.
- Provide search and plant suggestion features.
- Limit daily image identification usage.
- Improve app reliability, safety, and user experience.
- Prevent abuse and manage service costs.
Photos and AI Processing
When you use the photo identification feature, the selected or captured plant photo is sent to our backend service and then processed by an AI provider to identify possible plant matches.
Photos are used only to provide plant identification and related soil mix suggestions. Soil Master does not use photos for facial recognition or identity verification.
Please avoid uploading photos that contain people, private documents, addresses, or other sensitive personal information.
Anonymous Device Identifier
Soil Master generates and stores an anonymous device identifier on your device. This identifier is used to apply daily image identification limits.
This identifier is not intended to directly identify you as a person.
Third-Party Services
Soil Master uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase Cloud Functions, used to run backend logic and proxy AI requests.
- Firebase Firestore, used to store anonymous daily usage limits.
- Anthropic, used to process plant identification and soil mix generation requests.
These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Data Retention
We keep anonymous daily usage limit records for as long as needed to provide the app's functionality, prevent abuse, and manage costs.
Photos and AI prompts may be processed by our backend and third-party AI provider to provide responses. We do not currently provide user accounts or a built-in history feature for storing photos in the app.
Children's Privacy
Soil Master is not intended for children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Your Choices
You can:
- Choose not to use the camera or photo library features.
- Deny camera or photo library permissions in your device settings.
- Reset or reinstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect app data and backend credentials. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on the locations of our service providers and cloud infrastructure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
